Ocea creates timeless, high-quality jewellery designed in Australia for lovers of the ocean and marine life, with sustainability at the forefront.
Ocea founder Ash started Ocea Collective (formerly Mermaid Beach co) in 2017, to celebrate her love of the ocean and inspire others to follow their passion and do their part to protect our beautiful natural world.
Ash developed her love of the ocean thanks to her Granny. She would spend long days at the beach looking for shells and learning about the marine environment of South Australia. This eventually inspired her to study science and graduate with a Bachelor in Marine Biology from James Cook University. Ash is passionate about marine conservation and has spent countless hours volunteering with Reef Watch, the Ningaloo Turtle Program, coastal bird surveys and beach cleanups.
In her free time you'll find her at the beach, swimming with the local marine life in Exmouth, surfing, or out on a remote camping adventure.
Our Jewellery
Our jewellery is made from .925 sterling silver and 18ct Gold Vermeil. We use responsibly sourced shells, authentic gemstones and some lab-manufactured opals in our high quality pieces. We ship our unique ocean-inspired jewellery throughout Australia, and stock in a variety of surf stores, gift shops and cafes Australia wide.
Sustainability
At Ocea, we believe that loving the ocean goes hand in hand with learning about and protecting our natural environment in whatever way we can.
Helping to protect our marine ecosystems has been an important part of Ocea's mission from day one. We are a member for 1% For The Planet, and donate 1% of all revenue to environmental non-profits.
Our jewels are sent to you in reusable and compostable packaging. We minimise plastic where possible, and follow the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle. As a small business we are taking small steps every day to continue to lessen our environmental impact and do more good.
